Road fatalities are a crisis in South Africa - Hollard Highway Heroes was created to address this crisis – it is a transformative annual competition that highlights exceptional drivers who go above and beyond to not only deliver their cargo and passengers safely and on time but also drive responsibly, looking out for other road users and safeguarding their fleet owners. The competition is aimed at improving road safety and ensuring there are fewer accidents on our roads.
We have had a record number of truck and bus entries this year, thank you to every driver that has entered. The entry phase is now closed, watch this space for further updates!

In 2021, Hollard Trucking joined hands with the Johannesburg-based Commercial Transport Academy (CTA) to sponsor its inspirational Women Inspiring Women to Lead in Transport (WIWIT) initiative in Gauteng, with a particular focus on its WIWIT programme which aims to equip budding female truck drivers for employment in the industry.
Our mission is to help train more women in transport, and to support them in gaining experience. In practice, this means seeing increasing numbers of fully trained women drivers with code 14 driving licences, workplace experience, and skills in financial literacy and time management, stepping confidently into the workplace.
Visit the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA) website for more information about their comprehensive driver learnership programmes.
The Hollard Trucking Driver Rewards Card Programme rewards drivers for ongoing good driver behaviour. It is based on a pre-defined set of driving and safety parameters. All rewards obtained by your driver, employed by you, will be loaded on a customised cash MasterCard which will be sent to you for each driver. Drivers will have the option to swipe their rewards card at any MasterCard partner across South Africa.
Hollard is a proud partner of the Safer Stops Association. Through this partnership we take a proactive stance, aiming to form partnerships with existing truck stop owners, government, and influential leaders within the logistics industry. Our goal is twofold. First, to amplify the resources currently available to drivers, enhancing their comfort, safety, and well-being. Second, to act as a catalyst, influencing the future growth and evolution of the sector.
The Hollard Risk Services Bureau will be ten years old this year. The purpose of the Bureau is to actively monitor and report on high-risk driving behaviours. The Bureau has two main functions namely the live monitoring function (24-hour live monitoring on 20+ telemetry systems) and the reporting function (daily, weekly and monthly historic reporting on bad driving behaviours). The Bureau currently monitors over 6000 trucks with over 40,000 high-risk alarms (impact Alerts, battery disconnects, jamming alerts, panic alarms) received monthly and roughly 3500 phone calls made.
