Hollard Highway Heroes is a way to showcase truck drivers and the important work they do in light of the difficult circumstances they face on the road, including long working hours, time spent away from family and dangerous situations.
The competition started in 2015 and has since grown to include four categories, each with four sub-categories, in a bid to even the odds for all competitors.
The drivers are judged on their driving performance as it relates to speed, harsh braking, fatigued driving (driving without taking sufficient breaks) at night and fatigued driving during the day.
This is the last step before the winners in the four categories are chosen, and they will then go on to compete for the overall title of Highway Hero, and R100 000 in cash and prizes.
