Insurance Apprentice 2018: Hollard’s Samantha, smiling

Dreyer is the only one out of the four Hollardites who had made it through the elimination rounds to be in the top 20 candidate list.

There were a total of 204 applications for this season, of whom 60 went through to the elimination rounds, held in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Now the remaining 20 candidates vying for a place in the final eight, and ultimately the chance to become the 2018 Insurance Apprentice.

But to secure her spot, Dreyer will need support. Each candidate has uploaded a short video onto The Insurance Apprentice website, in which they share their message about why they would be the best representative of the insurance industry. Viewers can then vote for their preferred candidate to be in the final eight.

“I'm so super-chuffed about making it through, as the competition is so tough this year,” says Dreyer, a broker consultant for Hollard Hospitality and Tourism in Umhlanga. “The experience so far has been great, and I have met such amazing people and have learnt a lot about myself.”

She says she would encourage everyone to enter, whether they think they are capable or not because the experience will help them in a similar way.

“I'm amazed at what I have learnt about myself. I'm hoping to make it to the top eight, to gain even more from this experience. I am looking forward to learning from the other competitors, as well as the judges, and I'm so excited to see how it all unfolds. Voting for the videos has opened, so vote, vote, vote.”

While the votes will not solely dictate who the top eight will be, they will contribute to the final decision. A panel will review each of the candidates and pick the best eight; but the more votes one receives, the better their chances of making the final eight.

Voting closes on 10 November, so we encourage everyone to start voting immediately to help Dreyer over the final hurdle. Check out her video below, and vote for Samantha Dreyer here
