My Risk & More™ is Hollard Broker Markets’ innovative new programme to prevent risk, also available as an app, that has been created for corporate and commercial clients.

Risk improvement should be as important to clients and their brokers as it is to Hollard Broker Markets because it protects their businesses against potential unforeseeable losses, and significantly reduces their chances of suffering losses.

Brokers at GIB Insurance Brokers, in Johannesburg, had an opportunity today to work with Hollard Broker Markets to assess risk at a GIB client’s premises, and to really grasp the work that goes into compiling a risk assessment.

With risk surveyors Philani Mbanjwa and Roger Ingram in tow, and My Risk & More™ information in hand, the GIB team visited their client’s premises, Clear Edge Filtration in Robertsham, Johannesburg. Clear Edge Filtration is a leading supplier of industrial filtration products and filter media.

“Hollard is the only insurer that does risk improvement for free. It costs more than R5 000 with other insurers,” Marcel Wood, head of the Risk Improvement Centre of Excellence at Hollard Broker Markets, said.

“At Hollard, we are good at working with the client to get the risk right. We are excited to talk to you about how you see risk and how we see it. One of our biggest challenges is to sit down with the broker, and client, and make everyone happy,” added Hollard Broker Markets EXCO member Justin Naylor.

Risk improvement is the best way for insurers to protect clients from the hazards they face on a daily basis, by helping them manage their physical business risks more effectively. Surveying the premises, Ingram said security, flammable substances and fire equipment are a few of the many risks to be looked at.

Using the My Risk app, Mbanjwa said his job was much more efficient and thorough because “unlike a printed risk questionnaire, the app allows you to follow a sequence so that you do not miss anything. The app has a checklist and questions that you can go on and comment on, as well as to attach a photo so that when you are doing your report, you have evidence of what you saw.”
